One of Our Own Needs Our Help

Jason Moore, who with trainer Amy Shahan Fleming founded Koshy's Kids (previously profiled here), a group dedicated to raising funds for children with cancer as well as raise interest in harness racing amongst children needs our help. Jason, who is a battling cancer (in remission) has recently suffered a set back with unrelated kidney and liver problems. As with many people, Jason does not have health insurance and now must deal with the medical bills.

Thanks to some people in the industry an effort has been launched to help Jason. In order to help Jason; not only to help pay his medical bills but to keep his dream of Koshy's Kids alive, please consider lending a hand. There are several ways to do so.

On Sunday, August 9 (the day after the Hambletonian) a a fundraiser for Jason will be held at La Scala restaurant at 117 North Gaston Avenue in Somerville, New Jersey. The cost is $100 per person. Click on this link for more information regarding this event. If you are unable to attend this event, any donation you can make would be appreciated. Donations may be sent by mailing a check for Jason Moore to Attorney Jeffrey R. Pocaro at 141 South Ave., Suite 204, Fanwood, New Jersey 07023 or to Amy Fleming, PO BOX 34, Hartly, DE 19953. Remember these donations are to help defray medical expenses.

In addition, some drivers have donated their whips towards this benefit and you may bid for them on e-bay. In addition, a brand new race bike is being sold to benefit Jason. More information on the whips and race bike is available here.

Driver Corey Callahan is also helping by donating his purse earnings for one day to benefit Jason. Hopefully others will join the effort.

Thank you for your consideration. With the help of caring people in the industry, Jason will be able to continue pursuing his dream for Koshy's Kids. Jason may be a small player in the industry, but in a way he is a giant. People like him keep harness racing going and help promote it as the great sport it is.
