History Lesson: How NJ's Legislature Became Anti-racino

Why does New Jersey not have a referendum on racino's?  It is basically due to a coup of the legislature leadership which removed pro-racing Senator Richard Codey from the position of Senate President which allowed anti-racino Senator Sweeney to take control of the Senate leadership.  How did this coup happen?  It is a two part answer.  Number one was the victory of Chris Christie which allowed for the coup in the Democratic-controlled legislature.  As for the second reason, I think I'll let Richard Codey tell you who he thinks engineered the coup; it involves a party boss.  All I will tell you is it is New Jersey politics at its best.

Thanks to the Asbury Park Press whose blog brought this video to my attention.
