Brilliance or Fool Hardiness

Entries were due for the Breeders Crown today and to say we are shocked that See You At Peelers has been entered is an understatement.  With her lackluster efforts in her recent starts and after her qualifier this past Friday at Freehold Raceway, it seemed Jimmy Takter was resigned to bypass the Breeders Crown this year.

Well so much for gut feelings as See You at Peelers was dropped in the box this morning.  The question needs to be asked what has changed since Friday to merit the change in plans.  Obviously, the heart monitoring deemed Peelers was back but it has been over a month since she raced against actual race company.  Granted, See You At Peelers is a horse in her own class when she is right,  but it still seems to be a tough task.  With eliminations required for her division, Peelers needs to be finish in the top five to advance to the following week's finals.  My guess is they are looking for a good finish this week and hoping the post position gods are kind to her the following week.  When all is said and done either Jimmy Takter will look like a genius or he will be second guessed for a long time.

The aged Open trot looks like it could be an interesting race.  With only seven horses entering there will be no eliminations so San Pail will be taking on Rapide Lebel and Commander Crowe, two of Europe's best in a battle of global supremacy; no preliminary racing here so it figures this race may offer some interesting value.  It promises to be an interesting next two weeks of racing.  Hopefully, it lives up to the promise.
