Late Summer Weekend Idea

We all appreciate the majesty of the standardbred on the racetrack but how many of us know how versatile the standardbred is off the track?

The National Standardbred Horse Show will be held on Sunday, August 30 at the Horse Park of New Jersey. During the show standardbreds will be on parade, showing their versatility off the track performing in many different equine disciplines including jumping. A complete list of the classes is available here. Admission is free and the day is suitable for the entire family. Just a word of caution, bring a lawn chair with you.

The evening before, there is a joint Battle of the Breeds being sponsored jointly by the Standardbred Pleasure Horse Organization of New Jersey and the Rerun Thoroughbred Rescue Group which will have standardbreds and thoroughbreds competing against each other. A charity BBQ will be held after the Battle.

So if you have time and are in the area, consider taking in the either or both of these events for a change of pace.
