Predicted O'Brien Equine Winners For 2013

The O’Brien nominations aren’t out yet, but details, details. Here are your equine winners. Remember that a horse must start three times in Canada to qualify.

2-Year-Old Colt Trotter: Father Patrick. Jimmy Takter’s Cantab Hall colt won the Champlain in a Canadian and track record 1:54. He also won the Wellwood and the elimination for that race.

2-Year-Old Filly Trotter: Riveting Rosie. The Muscle Mass filly won the Peaceful Way, Champlain, OSS Super Gold Final and the Mid-Summer challenge.

2-Year-old Colt Pacer: There are several candidates for this one, but the Western Ideal colt, Luck Be Withyou, won a split of the Champlain and the Breeders Crown. The latter is very important . A Breeders Crown win alone was enough to earn Monkey an O'Brien a couple of years ago. Granted, it was won at Woodbine, but still, I think the BC win will get Luck home in this crowded category.

2-Year-Old Filly Pacer: Precocious Beauty won the Eternal Camnation, She’s A Great Lady and Champlain. Enough said.

3-Year-old Colt Trotter: The Kadabra colt, Flanagan Memory, will win this one. He took the Goodtimes, OSS Super Final, Mid-Summer Challenge and a couple of OSS Gold races.

3-Year-Old Filly Trotter: Bee A Magician

3-Year-old Colt Pacer: Vegas Vacation wins this one. He racked up wins in the SBSW, Simcoe, Jug, Matron and Empire Classic.

3-Year-Old Filly Pacer: Nitelife won the Fan Hanover and the elimination for that race as well as the Simcoe.

Aged H&G Trotter: Intimidate won three in Quebec, four at Mohawk and the Credit Winner. Herbie has one win on his card and Knows Nothing has no Credit Winner trump card in his deck. San Pail is a no show.

Aged Trotting Mare: Maven is the queen of her class. She had four wins in Canada; she took the Armbro Flight and the elimination for that one; and she also won two legs of the Miss Versatility series.

Aged H&G Pacer: Needy will get it. His lone stakes win was the Mohawk Gold Cup, and he also won three preferred races at Woodbine early in the season. Combine that with the two fast elimination wins at the Meadowlands and he’s home.

Aged Pacing mare: Anndrovette and Rocklamation split the Roses Are Red and Milton and there is no more Forest City Pace to settle things in the fall. Monkey On My Wheel is very popular and may get it off of a win in the Milton elimination and a handful of preferred wins.

Horse of the Year: Bee A Magician

There you go. You don’t even have to wait for the nominations to be doled out on SC.
